In order to assure this access and provide management depth to its clients, CDI's management team is organized by areas of expertise. Each client is assigned a senior staff member to function as its Executive Director and this staff member has access to each of the departments within CDI as needed for specialized services. This organizational structure assures single-point-of-contact service and coordination of responsibilities as well as management depth and expertise at every level plus the value of in-house project delivery.
Ron Starner
Director of Publications
As Publishing Director, Mr. Starner manages both the editorial content and advertising sales for the publishing division of CDI. This includes oversight of SiteNet, the online Web portal for corporate real estate and economic development news and data.
Prior to joining
Site Selection, he spent six years in various editorial roles with
Florida Real Estate Journal, where he ultimately became editor and then publisher. Ron has eight years of experience at a daily newspaper in Florida, where he led the
Winter Haven News Chief to several statewide awards in journalism. At the newspaper, Ron served as a reporter, opinion page editor and city editor.
A journalism graduate of Virginia's Liberty University, Ron holds a master's degree in mass communications from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Debbie Porter
Director of Business and Finance
Ms. Porter has twenty years of accounting and financial management experience with non-profit organizations and has established accounting practices and controls for international organizations. In addition, she has designed and implemented a detailed reporting system for volunteer leadership.
Hazel J. Pankey
Director, Conference Programs
Ms. Pankey coordinates conference programming for organizations
within Conway Data's Association Management sector. The job involves working closely with a spectrum of corporate and industry leaders to deliver high-quality conference content. Having worked with IDRC, a multi-million dollar account managed by Conway Data, she played a key role in delivering leadership forums throughout the continental United States and Congress programs in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Prior to joining Conway Data in 1989, Ms. Pankey managed Contel Corporation's real estate lease tracking system. She attended North Carolina A & T State University and the University of Central Florida and has degrees in Business Administration and Management.
Joel Parker
Research Manager and Head of Member Information Services
Mr. Parker heads Conway Data's Member Information Services function, which conducts in-depth research into the member demographics of associations, identifies member needs and programs to satisfy them, and publishes reports to communicate high-value information to the members. Mr. Parker has over 24 years of business research and writing experience, including nine with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and 15 in an association environment. From 1993-99, Mr. Parker coordinated IDRC's path-breaking "Corporate Real Estate 2000" research program. This raised $2.9 mil., conducted research and published almost 2,000 pages of cutting-edge corporate real estate know-how in books and bulletins. The program is credited with reinventing corporate real estate as a strategic provider of corporate infrastructure, in contrast to its traditional role as a tactical provider of buildings and land. Mr. Parker earned a BBA degree from North Carolina State Univ. and a Master of Arts in economics from the Univ. of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Leonard Burns
Director of Technology and Information Services
Prior to joining CDI as Director of Technology and Information Services, Mr. Burns was Senior Systems Engineer at Cingular Wireless, where he was involved in upgrading the company's retail network. He previously held lead engineering and project management roles at IMS Health, Synavant and Emory University.
His main areas of interest include strategic information planning, the use of networked information, electronic database provision, information/knowledge management, and designing efficient and secure infrastructures for "Corp to Corp" and consumer E-commerce industries.
Mr. Burns has been a consultant to a number of companies in the U.S., and has designed the I.T. infrastructure of several associations and annual technical conferences throughout the Southeast. He has more than 10 years experience in various senior engineering and management roles and currently holds certifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Compaq Authorized Systems Engineer.
