The Central Delaware Economic Development Council is Kent County's official agency for economic development. The Council is comprised of business and industry leaders as well as public officials ready to assist companies to locate and expand in Kent County. The Director is available to help companies and individuals with site searches, community profiles, demographics and individual project support.

Tax Incentives are available to many targeted industries based on capital investment and new jobs created. Kent County and the City of Dover both offer a property tax incentive program. In addition to the local incentives, the State of Delaware offers tax incentives and corporate income tax reductions for certain qualifying industries. |

In Kent County, there is a long tradition of state and local governments working together to make it easier for companies to locate and expand. Access to elected and government officials is outstanding as well. The state and local governments support new investment and job creation.
The local economy is a well-diversified mix of many nationally known companies as well as federal, state and local government. NationsBank, N.A., Aetna Insurance, PPG Industries, Discover Card (Greenwood Trust), ILC Dover, Sunroc Corporation, Eagle Group, Inc., General Metalcraft, Dentsply International, and Perdue Farms provide for a well-diversified employment base.
The City of Dover is the home of Dover Air Force Base, the county's single most important employer. The Base employs over 7,000 military/civilian personnel. Thirty-six C-S Galaxy aircraft are stationed at Dover providing a steady employment base as well as a resource for new companies looking for high-quality employees.
Kent County offers prospective businesses an available and skilled work force capable of meeting the demands of an increasingly sophisticated work place. The Kent County labor force is growing at a rate faster than the national average. In addition to the local labor force, employers may draw from a pool of employees reaching 200,000 workers who will be able to commute easily to any facilities within the county.
Through the Delaware Economic Development Office, an employer may take advantage of a work force training program designed to put a productive work force in place just in time for production start-up.
Employers in Kent County may take advantage of a fully-equipped custom and contract-training complex and its adjoining multifunctional satellite conference center. Conference, meeting, and training needs are easily met in this premier 27,000 square foot facility designed to accommodate the smallest of groups and those of up to 250 individuals. |

Delaware State University is a fully-accredited, four-year comprehensive institution. The University offers Bachelor of Arts degrees and Master's degrees in eleven areas. The academic program is organized into nineteen departments with regular evening and summer sessions. The University is the state's only historically black institution of higher education with on enrollment of 3,300 students. |

Founded in 1 873, it is a fullyaccredited coeducational liberal arts institution located in the heart of historic Dover, Delaware. Bachelor of Arts degrees are offered in twentytwo areas. Associate Degree programs are also available. Wesley College also offers special programs at Dover Air Force Base for military personnel and civilians. Wesley College has an enrollment of 1 ,350 full- and part-time students. |

Students at Wilmington College's two locations in Kent County may obtain Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in many different areas. The College has a weekend Master's degree program which is designed to be completed in one year. The fully-accredited institution also features eightweek courses and a liberal policy for the acceptance of transfer credits and flexible scheduling that is convenient for working persons.

POLYTECH'S ADULT EDUCATION program offers extensive classes in vocational, academic, and enrichment programs. Customized Industrial Training is available for employers with work force training needs. POLYTECH HIGH SCHOOL is a full-time comprehensive vocational/technical school offering preparation for college and career.
The University of Delaware Parallel Program provides regular undergraduate credit courses taught by an University approved faculty. Students can obtain bachelor's degrees through the Delaware Technical and Community College's Terry Campus in Dover. |
