IDRC Membership Directory
Goes CD-ROM

Global Membership DirectoryThe International Development Research Council (IDRC), the premier professional association for corporate real estate executives, workplace strategists and corporate infrastructure managers, continues its push into electronic information formats: IDRC is now introducing its Global Membership Directory on CD-ROM.

The directory encompasses the world's largest network of corporate real estate executives, service providers, economic developers and academics. The new format for the directory's year 2000 edition will replace the traditional printed volume and will feature a Web browser that will facilitate instant, ongoing updates of membership listings.

That feature reflects a primary reason for converting to the Web-based CD-ROM: continuous change within membership listings that reflect ongoing industry flux on both IDRC's end user and service provider sides. Those changes have made printed directories less accurate and efficient, IDRC officials say.

CD-ROM Links to the Web
The CD-ROM directory will link to the password-protected "Members on the Web" section on IDRC's Web site via either of two Web browsers: Microsoft Explorer and Navigator. The CD-ROM and Members on the Web allow for various sorts, including by name, company, member type, location, type of service or product offered, plus other criteria.

As a supplement to the two electronic media, IDRC will publish a condensed telephone and e-mail directory of the membership.     SS
