Richard L. Haury Sr.

Richard L. Haury, PE is a Senior Vice President of URS Greiner Woodward Clyde and is the former Director of URS Greiner Woodward Clyde's Air Transportation Practice. As such, he was in charge of all air transportation projects worldwide. More than 35 of his 44 years of experience have been devoted exclusively to aviation projects. He is widely experienced in project management, direction and coordination plus planning and engineering for large multi-disciplined airport projects. His first significant project was the multiple award-winning Tampa International Airport, where he played a major role in developing the first of its kind landside/airside terminal including space programming, alternatives development/analysis, and detailed conceptual design for terminal configurations including related roadways, parking, and aprons. After the airport opened to traffic, he provided civil/airport engineering in conjunction with URS Greiner's General Consultant services for six years until he relocated to serve as Project Director throughout the project planning, design, and construction of the award-winning 48-gate Orlando International Airport terminal complex. In that capacity, he was responsible for overall project direction, technical review of design by URS Greiner Team members, and liaison among client, airlines, concessionaires, governmental agencies, and affected parties. He subsequently directed URS Greiner's General Consultant services for ongoing development and expansion and then transferred to provide overall leadership of the program management services for planning, design, and construction of the new Denver International Airport. This completely new airport complex cost $2.95-billion for the first phase and is the first new airport to be constructed in the US since the 1970s. In its ultimate configuration, the new Denver complex will surpass all other US airports in passenger-handling capacity and received the 1997 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award.

He is currently serving as URSGWC Principal- in-Charge of the new airport terminal development at Baiyun Internationl Airport, Guangzhou City, China, a new runway for Miami International Airport , a master plan for a new airport for Louisiana International Airport, the terminal development plan for Orlando International Airport's growth from 24 to 70 million of annual passengers, and consultant services at over 10 other airports.

He served as Principal-in-Charge of URS Greiner's Prime Consultant contract for design of the new 24-gate terminal complex at Palm Beach International Airport. He also provided peer review and QA/QC for URS Greiner's development of Southwest Florida International Airport's 2010 Plan focusing on a proposed new midfield terminal complex, a new runway, site access, and support facilities. Other noteworthy projects included NASA's Space Shuttle Landing Facilities Complex at Kennedy Space Center and master planning, environmental and airfield work at Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas. In all, he has been involved in various roles for many varied projects at over two hundred airports.

Mr. Haury has served as an honorary professor / lecturer at Post Graduate Airport Planning Programs at the University of Central Florida, University of Florida, and Georgia Institute of Technology.

Prestigious awards to Mr. Haury include "Engineer of the Year," Central Florida Chapter, Florida Engineering Society, 1982; "Robert Horonjeff Award," Air Transportation Division, American Society of Civil Engineers, 1994; and the "Greiner Leadership Award," Greiner Engineering, Inc., 1994.
