Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority
The Design/Build contract is the largest single contract, comprising in excess of 50% of the total construction cost of the Project. The work includes:
- Final design and construction of 10-mile “trench” section
- Final design and construction of track, equipment and systems for the remainder of the Corridor as well as connections to the Railroad mainlines and the Port rail lines and a local industry connection
- Bypass Track to be used during Mid-Corridor construction
- Parallel roadway improvements
Contract specifies completion deadlines, and levies substantial liquidation damaged if schedule not met
- Construction commenced January 15, 1999
- In Service Date - April, 2002
- ACTA must provide North and South Ends for track installation six months before scheduled revenue start date
- Liquidated Damages:
- $125,000 per day (first 30 days), $150,000 per day (next 60 days), $175,000 per day (next 90 days), and $200,000 per day (next 185 days) for delay in Corridor Substantial Completion
- $25,000 per day for delay in Project Substantial Completion
